I've just started on the long journey of my HND Level 4/5 Advance Childcare Practice. I have my first assignment and it's about professional and continuing development. It wants me to 'identify a range of personal and professional goals to achieve improvements in development areas' and set targets for 3, 6 and 12 months.

So far I have thought of:

3 months - researching my dissertation ideas
- updating my legislation knowledge
6 months - First Aid refresher course
- Self-Evaluation Form
12 months - Decide on where I want to go professionally once course has finished

I have got other ideas but I'm a bit stuck on the 'to achieve improvements in the development areas', what development areas does it mean? Can anyone think of anything else? I think I am over-thinking things which is why I've hit a block.

Thanks in advance

what about more specific practice training i.e.

ICAN training for communication/speech support - not expensive courses just reading up on it.
Trying to make your setting more risk friendly/outdoor play based - forest school type approach
looking at ways of promoting independence

you could just decide on one as a goal, reserach, put ideas into planning and then evidence for your CPD.
