Totally confused about the ratios now. I have my own two children who are 4 and 7, a 5 year old, a 10 year old and a 13 year old. Can I take on a 3 year old and her 4 year old brother?????? This is after school for a 2 hours.

So your children are
4
7

You mind
5
10
13

The 10 year old and the 13 year old do not come into your numbers. Your ratios for Ofsted purposes will be you are allowed an additional 2 under 5 and 2 over 5 bringing your total up to 3 under 5 and 3 over 5.

Therefore you have at present in the following age brackets

Birth-5
4

5-8 years
5
7

This means you have 2 spaces Birth - 5 years and 1 space 5-8 years meaning you can take on these 2 but you would be full birth-5 years until one is in full time education but not yet 5 then they would be classed as rising 5's and move into the 5-8 years bracket.

Hope that makes sense.
