Has anyone trained an apprentice through this scheme?
Had a long chat today
It's £1500 one off payment to be paid after 13 weeks if its working out - otherwise can stop and try another one.
Need to give 30 hrs a week work at £2.67 an hour (or close) for a year. After which she/he can work for you or find a job elsewhere.
The YMCA is doing all the advertising to find the person.
Has anyone tried it, ? If so - how did it work out?

Haven't tried it as not yet registered however I used to be an assessor / tutor, if you need any general questions answering then ask away,

If you didn't get on with YMCA training then the £1500 payment can be paid through most training providers :-)

Just reviving this to see if anyone has tried it.

YMCA advertised for me - got 25 applicants, interviewed 20 and presented me with 4 to interview. I chose two last week - so all very exciting.

hi jadava,
I am paying the minimum wage of 2.67 an hour. im glad I am. I have lost my major income source and I still have to. pay her salary. as it is a 1 year contract.

Thanks Christine

Are the assessor's visits intrusive or are they ok?

no hot really. at the moment they use thesleeping room and it is kind of a teaching session with handouts and texts books. but from next visit they will use the living room so that I have full use of my play area. all they need is a quiet placd really.
