My son does a class on a Tuesday 3.30-4.00. Normally I have a 18mo and sometimes 4yo who is ad hoc.

4yo mum asked to drop him at 4-5.30 today and I said it's either at 3 when I leave or 4.15. She seemed a bit annoyed but agreed to 4.15.

Normally this 4yo is here from 11.30 if he's here so it's never been an issue and probably never will be again.

Do you think I'm right or should I have dropped the class, knowing full well they'd probably be 20 mins late as is the norm anyway?

When he started the class I asked if they minded me taking them along, that's no issue because I do it for their children also. If they came early I wasn't going to charge for the extra time, maybe I should have made that clear.

I would have done the same, all my parents know that they sometimes need to be a bit flexible due to my sons activities.

I'm lucky in that my grandad usually takes him to most things for me when I'm working but if he's on holiday etc then I have to do it, thankfully all my parents are fine with it, so far!

The 4yo is adhoc so a space is not guaranteed for him. You couldn't accept him at the time mum wanted so you offered 2 alternatives to drop off a bit earlier or a bit later than she wanted. Nothing wrong with that. She should be grateful you could have him at all, no guarantees with adhoc spaces.

You've done the right thing I'd say :)

Absolutely right. My children always come first anyway and in this case it's not like you didn't try to accommodate her needs.

I would have done exactly the same as you. Sometimes there has to be a bit of give and take and we do have to go out SOMETIMES.
