Hi everyone! I'll be having my first graded inspection either tomorrow or Thursday and I worried about popping in and out of the kitchen for drinks/snacks for the children whilst the inspector is here. My kitchen and sitting room are next to each other and the door wedged open, would it be classed as leaving the children alone with the inspector if I went to the kitchen? Sorry if it's a really stupid question, just I worry that I'll make a silly mistake without realising.

No such thing as a stupid question. The Inspector will be DBS checked so it should be ok to leave her alone with the children. In any case, I don't think you are, as your sitting room and kitchen are next door (I have a similar set up). I can see/hear the children at all times (that's the key thing as it's one of the EYFS welfare requirements). I made a point of explaining everything that I was doing to the Inspector. So you could say to her 'I'm just popping into the kitchen but I can see and hear the children. If you were a visitor without a DBS check, then I wouldn't do this'. Or something like that. Good luck!

That's great thank you, I thought that might be the case but I seem to be overthinking things!

Thanks everyone it went really well and I got a good! The inspector was lovely although the didn't turn up til 9.45 so when they say if they're not there by 9.39am they're not coming, don't believe it!
