I have a slightly developmentally delayed boy coming up to one. He's not into puzzles or putting things in holes etc or stacking.
He likes bashing things and making a noise is all I've got really. He likes splashing in water too.
I suspect his house is full of trashy plastic toys - mum is broke and buys a lot of Disney stuff etc from Charity shops.
Any ideas?

I was going to suggest a drum :-)
Or maybe some Bath toys?

How much is your budget? Early learning centre have lots of song CD's that are normally £5 for £2.50 also lots of other things in the sale - I got mindees (aged 22 - 23) months some of those link together by magnets car sets (3 cars) for £5 instead of £10 - yes they are plastic but a bargain at that price.

I like the other ideas - xylophone and bath toys sound great - look in Asda for their 2 for £10 toys, I bought a 12 month old mindee a little tikes bath toy in this deal, Little Tikes normally very strong, so withstand his "bashing"!

How about finding a nice but reasonably prices one from Asda or Primark and getting an ELC CD for £2.50 in the sale to go with it - something practical for night time and something fun for the day or listening to in the car, at least something to help him with his development - or a cheap bed time story book.
