Off to A&E lots of on and off complaining about a sore chest and back this morning. Dd has eaten her breakfast and in fact, has eaten and drank lots more than usual, but came out with the comment "eating makes it better mummy!" Who knows?? Will keep you posted

Very swift wait, X-ray done and could see the 10p as plain as day! Only problem is that the coin is not sideways it's flat. Pains were from it passing from her oesophagus into her stomach. Concerned that it won't pass into her bowel. Let us go, but got to wait until Thursday, if not passed we'll be back in. On poop watch now!! May turn it into a game "peek a poo!" Lol!

My ds1 swallowed a contact lens when he was about 18 months. Was told by hv to watch for it in poo.idid this for a week and the contacted gp who then told me not to worry as one of her twins had swallowed Lego when he was one and never found it and as they are now both 17 years old it didn't do him any harm.

The thought of swallowing my coin makes me shudder! I swallowed a cherry drop whole once and made a right fuss! Dd is fine, don't expect to see 10p much before tomorrow evening. X-Ray showed it in the left side of her stomach today so needs to make its way into the wiggly bowel bits next, just hope it fits through dd nearly 3, is very tiny and only weighs 11kg or 24lb!

Spoke to nursery today as wasn't sure on their "poo detective" policy! They said they'd sift through it until any of us find it! Which was great, so fingers crossed we find it before Thursday, or my weekend will be spent on the children's ward!!

No didn't give me tips but I've been feeding her plenty of good food and making her drink plenty in the hope it'll push it along a bit. But now I'm a bit concerned that she'll end up with a bigger blockage if it gets stuck!
She was awake in the night with a awfully husky voice and a stridor cough, but nothing this morning, just a gruff voice, I'm assuming just a virus, but can't help wondering if the coin made her throat sore on its way down ??
Time will tell, dd is at nursery now, they said they'd call if she hit the jackpot! Lol!!

Any luck? It sounds horrid, I can't imagine pushing a 10p through my bum to be honest lol!

What will they do if it doesn't come out?

5p ARRIVED THIS MORNING AT 5.55am!!!!!

So not a 10p after all!! Even the nurse said it was definitely a10p, probably looked big inside a tiny body!

No more poo sifting for me, I'm celebrating with a cuppa!

Thanks for all the replies!

No matter how many times I wash them the scent of poop is stuck up my nose! Hopefully will be gone by tomorrow!! Lol

Tips for sifting poo!

Make child poop on a potty
Soak poop in hot water (in potty)
Wait 10min
Poop will have disintegrated a bit
Wearing gloves, give it a poke and a swirl with a cotton bud
Slowly empty water down toilet
Foreign body will stay in the bottom
BINGO!!!

Dd passed the 5p without a problem, 5p is now gleaming and ready to be placed in dd's 18th birthday card!! Lol

100000s of years ago when I was little my dad had a gold tooth.... He swallowed it.

We were on holiday in Scotland camping and luckily we had a potty ( my brother was being potty trained and it's handy for car sickness etc)

We had an interesting holiday..... The potty became quite a focus.... And my mum bought quite a few marigolds.....

Ah

Well reading this thread, it seems like quite a few have experienced it themselves, also everyone I've spoken to about the scenario, have either swallowed a coin, known someone who has, or one of their kids has!
Every one of them sympathised with the poop sifting, so thought I'd share some tips!
