I did an observation on a mindee yesterday, he is 18 months. It started with him emptying a plastic box and looking through it which he found funny. Then in the afternoon I served his lunch on a see through blue plate and he waa fascinated with how his hand changed colour and then started putting objects underneath. He then wanted to look at a blue paper weight which he could see through.

Is this a schema? How can I extend and how can I write this up?

Thanks!

I have these, which the children love looking through

SenseToys (0845 2570849) - Colour Paddles Set - Product code: B5578 (http://www.sensetoys.com/NSTTEP483801)

you can also introduce the idea of colour mixing, so if they look through a red and yellow at the same time they see orange.

We also have magnifying glasses and these

Wooden Miragescope: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tobar-Wooden-Miragescope/dp/B00104Y24K/ref=pd_sim_k_h_b_cs_5)

For cheaper alternatives, or for craft activities you can use coloured film to make stained glass windows, kaleidoscopes, coloured glasses etc.
