Just wondered if anyone with their own young children (3,4 year olds) claim the 15 hours free entitlement for them? I know our children count in our numbers at all times but wondered if when they turned three we were allowed to draw their funding instead of seeking out somewhere to send them?

All thought welcome

Although they they count in your numbers I don't think you can claim the 15hrs for your own children

Yes you are able to claim funded hours for your own children , obviously provided they aren't using them elsewhere :-)

I just assumed you couldn't but I had a conversation today that made me think twice and thought I'd ask you guys as I'm sure someone must know the answer.

When I first started childminding I looked into it for my own child but was told no so I never took it any further but that was 8 or more years ago and as we all know everything changes so quickly in this job.

It would be good to claim for your own child :)

A local childminder claimed the funding for her own child, who never attended another setting. I only became accredited when my DD was in reception.
