Hi

Ok so here's the scenario,
I've had enquiries which mean that if i took them all on, including my children, I would be 1 child over the under 8 ratio for 2 hours in the morning 2 days a week . I know this is a massive no, however, my husband is at home during these 2 hours and can look after our children, do they then come out of the numbers?
Very confused! :0/?

I don't know if you are in the same scenario but have a look at this thread which may help you

Thank you, yes that is very helpful.
So the way I understand it, if my husband is at home and takes responsibility for my children during those 2 hours I will be within my numbers as I will be left with 5.
Hooray, brain ache diverted! ;0)

Be careful though. I can't say yes or no and it is a grey area. Use Sarah's email from Ofsted near the end of that thread to decide if you think you are allowed to do it

Register your hubby as assistant and then yes you can, you need to complete an ey2 form x

Remember if you go over your 6under 8's there may be planning issues. Please check with your la first.

I called ofsted to query this as my husband had a weeks annual leave and someone wanted a weeks care whilst their childminder was on holiday and I was told no my children count into my numbers at all times but I know other people have been told differently.

Ok, so I rang ofsted. The answer is no they do not come out of my numbers even if he is home and looking after them. The only way around it is to register him as an assistant.
Thanks for all your help
