help do working tax have to added to tax figures

hello as i am newly single i renewed my tax credit and i will now get working tax credit so does anyone know how this works as in do my tax credits have to be added to my annual income to declare coz i was thinking if it does i will have to be loads of tax and im a bit worried about this

i think as tax credits will know your income, and you will just have told them that you are on your own?

you do not declare tax credits as income.

basically its a top up for you?

im sure thats right but someone will correct me if im wrong.

Yes I do know the answer... the answer is

NO

Tax credits do not get added to your income for tax or any other purposes...

The only things that add are income from property, bank interest over £300 and some types of benefits like carers allowance.

Absolutely and totally NOT tax credits, not working tax or child tax. They are your money to top your earnings up. Just make sure you tell them if your earnings go up a lot... they can adjust the amount you get during the year and you won't have to pay loads back next year...
