Nursery ratio?

Does anyone know what the adult / child ratio is for a nursery?
Just interested in thinking through the logistics - should I choose to start one. The local early years team keep offering us loans and grants.....

I looked at a new nursery just last week. I asked how many children she could take in that space. She told me no restrictions now, but must prove she is providing all the children's needs and able to follow EYFS. Surly that's not right and have it mixed up like so many child minders did last September!

My prelim googling suggested 1:4 for two year olds

1:3 for under 1s
1:4 for 2yr olds
1:8 for 3yrs+ or 1:13 if EYP

I think the other nursery was referring to having no space restrictions maybe?

Day nurseries

Day nurseries are usually privately run and provide care for children aged from six weeks to five years old. All must be registered and annually inspected by Early Years Team in your local Health and Social Care Trust.

What is a day nursery?

There are strict guidelines on the ratio of staff to children:
for under two year olds - one carer to three children
two to three year olds - one carer to four children
three to five year olds - one carer to eight children

Pretty sure tho that an EYP Can have 13 3-5 yr olds...
