Hi there,

Just wondering what sort of contingency plans anyone has in place for 'sick' days and how has this been put forward to Ofsted? Cheers

I've included it in my Childminder's Sickness Policy explaining what would happen if I were ill or my assistant were ill.

are you expected to have alternatives in place or is that down to the parents?

You don't have to arrange alternatives, what I do is give the parents a list of other minders who I work closely with and who the children know from childminding group, (we offer each other holiday and sickness cover). It is explained to parents that these minders cannot guarantee to have a space but would be willing to cover if possible. After that it is up to parents.

i always think that the only pitfall we have from a nursery,( not being available when sick) as they have more bodies.
