Hi,

I am very sorry but I am a bit confused about all those new requirements eyfs... and planning ... does any one have plan of activities? how start? I know from assesment but what to do next?

Have you got the active learning book from ncma?

I was given it at my eyfs training.

It talks about planning, that we should 'observe, assess & plan'. So therefore planning is taken from the obs that you have made about that particular child.

On the example it shows it is only done once a month!

Also in the book is a template sheet you can use for this.

I'm not yet that up to speed with it all & thats as far as Ive got!

J is playing with the cars ... he might like to make a big road picture for them.

S is pushing the pram ... she might like to take dolly shopping and use the purse and shopping bag.

M is singing a song ... she might enjoy using the instruments.

That is planning from a child's interests.

But if you simply followed a child's interests, you wouldn't cover activites about the exciting world around us ... because a child might only be interested in playing with cars or dressing up every day.

So, some of your planning will be to follow your own ideas and introduce new concepts to the children ... maybe do some baking, plan an outing, look at a special day in the lives of the children, think about a multicultural event, make a collage of things you have collected on a nature walk, think about healthy eating, welcome a new child by doing 'all about me' activities ...

That is adult-led planning.

Sorry, me again! Sarah, where do you document all this? We were advised on our training to have a poster (laminated) of the six areas of learning up on the wall and just add post it notes to it as and when we've made an ob of a child within a specific area. These post it notes would then be transferred to a scrap book, for example, along with photographs of the child. However, I feel that the planning side isn't being documented as much as it could. Do you have a file for each child?

Hi,

Thank you for all your help ... it sounds very complicated for me but we dont have much choice do we?

so:
1. we are doing welcome day '' all about me''
2. based on this we need to make some planning.
3. make notes with post it note on the poster
4. put all of those notes in book.... with some pic.
