Ben is 4 years old and enjoys climbing trees at weekends with his older brother. Whilst at the park he asks if he can climb a nearby tree.

What would be your response?
What would need to be done to minimise the risk?

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction, I would personal persuade the child to use a climbing frame etc instead on a tree, but what is everyone else's opinion.

I answered this question by describing how I would do a risk assessment. I also talked about levels of supervision and how change based on weather inductions. Tree being skippy on wet day.
This is all from memory but I could look up what I write if you want more help.

We were told that "Ofsted like risky play" (obviously risk assessed and supervised!). I think the answer also depends on whether it's just you and Ben at the park (more able to supervise closely) or if you have other children with you.
