I have a question on my assignment asking 'What is the role of these professionals in the context of Early Years?'. The ones I can't figure out in this context are:
Psychiatrist
Nurse Specialist
Additional Learning Support
Local Education Authority
Police
Interpreting Service
Translation Service
Advocacy Service
Educational Welfare Officer
Probation Service
School Support Worker

Can anyone give me any clues as I think I may be thinking too hard about them now and it's not making sense! :panic: They will probably be really easy.

Thanks in advance.

I have a question on my assignment asking 'What is the role of these professionals in the context of Early Years?'. The ones I can't figure out in this context are:
Psychiatrist Could be of help for a child who has come from a disturbed background, has been abused or had suffered a bereavement.

Nurse Specialist A layer between your GP or Health Visitor who will assess and child's need and refer on to a Ear, Nose Throat Consultant, or a Speach and Language Therapist etc.

Additional Learning Support Often in school for children with a variety of additional needs but can be at home in the form od 'Portage' for a child with additional needs.

Local Education Authority All Schooling needs, maybe in an appeal for a school place. Will set the criteria for which 2yrs will get funding. Provide suppory and training for new and existing cm.

Police Child Protection Issues, Abusive parent issues and maybe with older children and/or parents with regard to drug or alcohol abuse.

Interpreting Service Families, parents and children who may have Engilsh as a second language and may need your Contracts and other forms translated, may need someone to attend interviews with them.

Translation Service similar to above

Advocacy Service google 'Advocacy services for children' generally and Croydon's LA website has tons of info but your LA web site will as well. It is all about preserving and respecting and standing up for a child's rights and their right to be heard.

Educational Welfare Officer they would become involved if there was extreme absence from school.

Probation Service Wouldn't have thought you would come across this unless there was a parent who had been in prison and there were concerns regarding a child.

School Support Worker They are employed in schools. There are two people in my dh school who hold this role one has the title 'Inclusion Coordinator and the other is Safe Guarding Coordinator. It is their role to work with any children or families that may have issues that affect the child. They may work with Educational Welfare Offices, Social Services etc in this role but they are employed in the school.

Can anyone give me any clues as I think I may be thinking too hard about them now and it's not making sense! :panic: They will probably be really easy.

Thanks in advance.
