How to help mindees understand that our chickens are dead?

We had a :censored: fox in our hen house last night, and it's killed our two chickens.

We've cleaned up the ... debris, but the hen house is now in pieces (for a deep clean) so it's kind of obvious that something has happened.

All mindees are currently under 2 yo, and the chickens were hugely popular with them. They loved to watch them, feed them treats, collect the eggs, give them food and water, try and hug them, etc, so how do I help them to understand what has happened?

I suppose it depends on how aware the 2 year olds are - mine would probably accept 'chickens gone' without going into the details. Hugs xx
