I would charge for the full day. I explain to parents that the space I offer a full day place. If they chose to send their child to nursery during that time, that's their choice, but the full day has been booked with me so need to be paid for.

I don't charge for the full day, only the time they are with me.

I make it absolutely clear to the client that I am only obliged to be available during the contracted and paid-for hours. So if nursery/preschool has an emergency closure, I have no obligation to fill that void; if I can do it, then there'll be an additional charge.

If I drop off and collect then I charge for the full time. The parent is paying for the space and if nursery is closed, inset day, school hols etc then they will need those 3 hrs with me. It's quite normal to do it this way, around here anyway.
