I have slippes my disc picking up a sofa to get mindees comforter out. Someone said I can claim off my pli, can I?

Really? You would want to claim for picking up a sofa to get dummy?
Not sure how you would as you have no employer and surely that comes under your risk assessment etc but if you want to go for it they can only say no :)

Don't want to no. I just wanted to know if legally you can as I only thought it was for if members of the public got hurt etc
