I was told usable furniture for childminding could be included in your floor space eg sofas and tables and chairs, but furniture which wasn't beneficial to children eg bookcases with adult books or DVDs couldn't be included, nor could kitchens, bathrooms or other unusable rooms.

Kitchens can be included. My friend does all her minding in her very large kitchen, Ofsted said I could but a baby to sleep in a travel cot in a kitchen! Not that I do. I know childminders, who put kids to sleep down the hallway on little travel beds!
