We currently have gravel down which all the cars use as a littler tray and so little ones never play out front, we are going to have it all covered over to stop cats and make easier to keep but am I ok to be open whilst its done? We can use the back door whilst the work is being carried out and workmen will not be in the house, and any wires will run through the hall where children aren't allowed so I think I will be ok?

We have a lovely green out the front and we often take older children outside to play with other children down our road, but I currently just take little ones in the back garden as I know it is a clean environment without cat mess or choke hazards from small stones

Can't see why not if your not useing the area for access.

As long as you risk assess it I dont see a problem as long as you feel its safe. We stayed open when we had our drive way done and used the back door instead of the front. When the digger was there to dig up our gravel we let the children watch for a short while
