I got an outstanding for my first inspection. Thank you so much you guys because it's reading this forum and being inspired by what you lot all do that has helped me.


It's still pending/ unofficial because mrs O has only just left and apparently they're not allowed to give outstanding on a first inspection but that's what she's recommending/ giving( whatever the term is). She did say she may have to justify it which is why I'm keeping quiet about it except on here. Erring on the side of caution but I just had to say it somewhere.

Thank you. I'm high as a kite it'll be an effort to not say anything at the school gate when I go to collect the after school children. My morning mindee has gone so I do have a little time to just relax right now x

Wow well done that's brilliant news. When I had my first inspection mrs o told me she wanted to give me outstanding but wasn't allowed to :-(

I haven't had my first inspection yet but why is it Ofsted don't seem to want to give 1st inspections 'outstanding'. The childminder might be new to the job but could have years of experience through home life and previous jobs
If somebody is outstanding then that's what they should be graded

I would also be interested to know why a new childminder can't get outstanding on their first grading - a new teacher could so why not a new CM?

It shows how all inspectors are different but they dont like to give outstanding i just had my first inspection and the inspector gave me a good which she said she didn't give to newly registered minders often but said had it been my second or third inspection she would of given me outstanding but she wasn't meant to give outstanding to newly registered minders, I was very pleased to get a good but felt a bit miffed that I wasn't allowed an outstanding because I was newly registered. However after reading all the inspection reports she had done in this area since revised EYFS and nearly all were satisfactory so that made me feel better.

Forgot to say congratulations and I hope you do get the outstanding grade you must deserve!

Well done, that's amazing :)

I was awarded an outstanding grading on my first inspection 18months ago (ish!!) And I burst into tears as did the inspector!! It's such an achievement if you can't shout it from the roof tops make sure you celebrate with your family xx
