A few months ago I had got my head around the changes in ratios but just need to ask the following question.

On Thursday next week a friend of mine has asked if I will have her little boy for a short while as they are moving house, however, I will already have 3 under 5 at that time am I right in thinking I am still ok to have him so long as I have risk assessed the situation?

Thanks in advance.

No it is not ok as this is not continuity of care

As it stands you can only have 3 under 5 at any one time.

However if a child you currently have needs extra sessions you can go up to four under five but not more the six under eight. This comes under continuity of care.
You can also increase your under five numbers if a child you currently have then has a sibling (does not need to be a baby) and needs you to care for them both under continuity of care.

It does not allow you to take on new children or help out your friend,
