Hello, I am a newly qualified childminder and I have a question about ratios. I currently look after three children 2,5 years old, 15 months old and my own son who is 1 year old. Mum of the 15 months old asked me to provide emergency care for her older sister (she is 3,5 years old and attends private preparatory school on a full time basis). This would be on ad hoc basis mostly during school holidays as mum and dad work shifts and ocassionally may need about 2 - 3 hours of child care in the afternoon. However this means that on some occasions I would have 4 children under 5. I was wondering if it is classified as a continuity of care and if I can make a variation in my numbers to meet this family needs? I will be very grateful for your help :)

I would say you could as they are an existing family do its not new business. But it's worth checking with your local EY people
