I look after two 2yo 3 days a week and currently planning for their interests. Observe, next step and then plan new activity passed on what I've seen.

I've noticed recently that people have started introducing a colour, a number, a shape once a month. Eg April is the colour yellow, number 1 and circle.

What do people think of this way. I'm quite interested in it but wonder how do implement this.

I wouldn't normally introduce themed activities until children are nearer 3 and looking for a little more structure in their day.

Then I choose a time when they are full of life and we do lots of hands on activities and games... once they are older they contribute to the planning.

At age 2 I'd keep things very general - numbers in the messy tray and for rubbings, letters to draw round - lots of conversation about what they are doing and open questions - the things you are probably doing already :laughing:
