View Full Version : Wants to talk in person

So today Sunday we had a lovely family day and I get a txt message from one of my parents.

She says can she pop round tomorrow as she wants to discuss something in person.

I know I shouldn't worry and to be honest whatever it is probably wont massively affect me however I hate wondering.

So hopefully she will pop in tomorrow and put me out of my misery as I hate pondering.

Narrowed it down to
Extra/less hours
Leaving
Possibly filling me on family (break up with dad)
Moving
Lost job
New job

Well haven't really narrowed it down have I?

Oh I can't bear that. I used to hate it when my old boss used to ask me if she could 'have a word' at the end of the day and you then couldn't think of anything else for the rest of the day!

Maybe she is pregnant?

Hope it's something positive - one of my parents this morning handed me an envelope with what felt like a card in and as it isn't my birthday and easter was last week - so not an Easter card I immediately thought she was giving notice (pessimist that I am), turned out it was a notelet giving me her holiday dates - phew!

So she just left!

It was to tell me she is sending her dd to thier home country for April, May, June, July and August so she isnt back until September. She's an air hostess so with me being on maternity leave fron June and her dd visiting grandparents next week she thought she might as well stay there and will pop over on her days off.

I said ok does she want to terminate the contract - No way she said she wants to continue paying to ensure that I have the space in September!!!!

So I have offered to spread the payment over the next few months to make it cheaper for her.

So all in all quite positive I will be getting paid but not actually having x as shes away.

Feel a bit guilty now!

so glad it worked out for you but if I read it correctly I am now feeling very sad for x as she will be living in another country from mum for 4 months? That just baffles me completely! :panic:

Yes thats right she generally travels for long periods and is quite used to it although I then have to resettle her and get her back on track as she is so spoilt by nanny!

Mum's not particularly attached I dont think but this is quite a cultural thing I think because my parents used to send us off to spain to stay with my grandparents.

Definitely a cultural thing, one my of my friends sends her son to France for the summer holidays, he loves it as he gets spoilt rotten by his grandparents lol.

Glad it's worked out well for you

As said earlier it has worked out well. I used to mind a little girl who went to her grandparents in the summer holidays. As English was her second language it was a bit of a step back when she returned but we all coped. You can now enjoy your maternity leave xxxx
