As well as working long hours I'm a single mum so I find it really hard to get to training sessions.

Last week I did the food hygiene course online, was so nice to beable to do it and home in my own time and take as long as I need.

I've just started the child protection course also with the virtual college (http://www.virtual-college.co.uk/?A=469&B=1Target=%22_blank%22). It's very good, really in depth although a little heavy at time, but I guess it's a heavy subject.

I'd recommend the virtual college (http://www.virtual-college.co.uk/?A=469&B=1Target=%22_blank%22) to anyone who has trouble getting to training sessions. I know you have to pay for them yourself but by the time I have paid a baby sitter and for petrol and lost an hours minding fees cause courses start at 6.30pm round here it works out cheaper!

I also find these good because my local courses are so far away and always start at 6 or 7 in the evenings and when you are working till 6.30 that is just a waste of time

It is worth paying yourself and they are not that expensive

Thanks Lucy for that

Also, at the top of this section there are links to both courses, just click the Virtual College logos that are flashing away! :)

Do the 'core' safeguarding one rather than the 'foundation' one, it costs the same but we were told in sheffield we had to do the 'core' one as its more in depth :)
