EYPS vs QTS

Here is a consultation on the new early years teacher. I used it to complain about the lack of parity between the new qualification and QTS.

its this discussion/debate that made me hold off doing my EYPS. My senior head of EY before she left said don't bother with EYPS, might as well do QTS. Lady at the children's centre just did her EYPS and said it was a load of baloney - hard work but seemingly pointless to her anyway - she advised me not to bother.

Hence my going down the teacher training route. I want to 'teach' or be a lead practitioner in a nursery, leading practice and pedagogy, without the horrible business downside of actually running a nursery and not being with the kids.

What is the point of them creating yet ANOTHER qualification. Why not just fund graduates to become EY QTS. To do QTS you have to get a school to take you on or pay £9k to go to uni, but if you do the EYPS or the now EYteacher qualification they fund most of it for you. Doesn't make sense.
