Not heard this one but I hope it is wrong please can you let us know where husband got it from as I am writing new contract with parents and will have to charge more if I can only claim 10p per mile

I think we should start a national petition to put up the fuel allowance to at least 50p a mile!

It should be going up not down!!!

I told one of my parent's that I wouldn't be putting up my fees this year. If it goes down I am going to have to after all as I do 4 miles a day taking her daughter to school.

All i know is that we were with friends over the weekend & they were talking about it. Our friend is self employed & has alot of mileage that goes through his books & they were saying about it when it changes to 10p a mile next year. They both seemed to know about it.

I am also hoping that they are wrong, thats why i was asking if anybody had heard anything about it:panic:

Hubby is working at the mo I will try & get in touch with him to find out.

As soon as i know anything i will post about it.

From what ive heard its only if your doing more than 12,000 business miles per year thats its going down by 10p but for under 12,000 miles its going up by 10p per mile.

Ok got hubby on the case - he's rang his accountant & left a message for him to call back.

I've said i've caused a national outrage & I need the answer

He will let me know as soon as he hears, but I am going out after lunch so if he's not been in touch before then it will be this afternoon.

Thanks for trying to find out the source for us Kat.

I can't see how they can put it down to 10p for all mileage, there really will be a national outrage not just a childminding one!!

i haven't heard this at all but surely if the allowance goes down then we claim for the cost of actually running the car instead.
ie now i claim 40p per mile and nothing for tax insurance mot or servicing but if it goes down to 10p i'll claim for all of the above instead

Sorry, I'm new to this tax thing so tell me to shut up if you want.

Can we not claim 40p/mile for the first ? so many miles then it goes down to 10p/mile after that?

I shouldn't think any of us do enough miles for the 10p/mile to apply.

Could this not be what they were talking about?
I hope so:panic:

I'm sure someone who knows what is going on will be along soon to put our minds at rest.

We pay our staff 40p per mile for the first 10,000 miles a year and then 25p for anything over that. Anything more than 10,000 at 40p is a taxable benefit.

Sorry, but I now charge my parent 60p a mile to cover the cost of fuel and the wear and tear to the car.

I rarely do pick ups from school as we can walk the two miles from the bus stop, but when I do go they pay.

For example monday 3 of them have a party in the next village. In all it will be 11miles so I will charge accordingly
