Doesnt suprise me I was having a similar conversation if they renamed calpol to paracetamol it would make more people less likely to give it out for anything :panic:

My nurse told me this when I took my dd for her jabs , she said don't give it unless she NEEDS it, which I don't but no ppl who give it just incase after jabs !

I heard this nearly 2years ago from my sister who is a nurse in Canada. Parents use it way too much.

Yikes! I was advised to give all of mine a dose of cal pol before their first jabs, was a long time ago now though 16,14 & 12 yrs

My eldest is 14, I remember being told to give calpol before jabs!

I've always believed that if you take painkillers without just cause, when you need them, your body will have become 'immune' and then they just 'don't work'.

I know that paracetamol reduces temperatures, so usually only give if a child's temp is 39.0+. However I do appreciate that it is also a painkiller, so if I believe a child could be feeling unwell, then I tend to give it then too.
