Thanks - I don't think the prices they give in the comparisons are that bad - 25 hours for about £100 = £4 an hour - although I do know nurseries locally who are charging over £5.

Within that article there was a link to story about training being cut - not sure if the link I pasted will work - if not look at original article.

Training for childminders and nursery staff slashed by 40% as ministers fail to agree deal to cut childcare costs | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2260127/Training-childminders-nursery-staff-slashed-40-ministers-fail-agree-deal-cut-childcare-costs.html)

Quote " But Mr Twigg pointed to a survey of childminders which showed that 81 per cent said that if the maximum ratios were increased, they would not charge parents less per hour.
‘The Government plans to cut back on childcare standards and safeguards – under the guise of deregulation. ‘This means that childminders could be looking after eight toddlers, instead of three or four under current rules. "
Where do they get the figures that childminders could look after 8 toddlers - that is proposed nursery ratios!!:panic:
