Can someone enlighten me as I am a bit confused. Am I right in assuming that this amazing new level 3 producing in 2014 'Early Years Educators' will be seen as superior to the rest of us who have achieved the level 3 diploma? This is how it reads in the govts Consultation on Early Education and Childcare Staff Deployment and the Elizabeth Truss report - More Great Childcare. I am all for a more professional title, childminders are never given the same respect as teaching assistants, nursery assistants and the like, despite often holding higher qualifications, but it seems very unfair that equally qualified childminders are excluded from having this new label.

I'm presuming it will become an equivilation qualification, they are just giving it a load of hype at the moment to promote the whole miserable package of proposals. I'm a qualified nursery nurse (nneb) but if I'd taken a job in a nursery I'd still be called a nursery assistant, does that make sense.

Hmmm.... maybe it's a bit like the EBAC, all hype and no substance :panic:
