Morning all,

Just thought I would share an idea with you all, you may know about it, you may not.

Barnados run an event in the summer called "The big toddle". This years theme is fairytales and nursery rhymes. They run properly organised events but you can also do your own event, in your own time. Organisations are allowed to keep 25% of monies raised if they wish, and this includes childminders so it is a good way of fundraising for new equipment or toys, but also its a great way for the children to give something back, have a bit of fun, learn about children less fortunate than themselves etc, so it covers physical development (keeping fit & healthy) knowledge of the world, can tie it in to language and literacy with stories, parents can get involved so you are forming good relationships with them and also ties into the 5 ECM's as the child are enjoying & achieving, being healthy & positively contributing.

Anyway I have signed up for it again this year (first time as a childminder, previously done it as a parent!) and I hope some of you do too xx

I love the Big Toddle - did it with another minder last year, but I'm always looking for events in Kent (but never find any!) Will definitely do it one way or the other this year.
