Just want to check please- am I correct in saying that you don't have to be registered to provide childcare for 2 hours or less per day? Could you be a registered childminder but provide the care in an unregistered capacity so without the usual paperwork and so on?

I think yes it would be ok if you were un-reg. Not sure how it stands if you are already reg, paperwork and numbers wise.
Hopefully someone more informed will come along and answer for you.

If you are registered then it's fine providing you don't go over numbers. However if you are paid, it might be worth just having a simple contract in place, just for insurance purposes.

It's similar to having your children's friends round to play, they count in your numbers even if you're not paid. My poor DD has just turned 8 and is thrilled that she can have her friends for tea a bit more often!
