So the ratio for nursery is the same as a childminder? 3:1. I always thought nursery's had a higher ratio of under 5 year olds to one adult. Glad I asked the question, thank you.

It was 1 member of staff for every 3 under 2's
1 to 4 for 2-3's
1 to 8 for over 3's

that was when I worked in daycare

0-2 is 1 adult to 3 children
2-3 is 1 adult to 4 children
3-5 is 1 adult to 8 children or if a level six (qualified teacher) is working with the children between 8 am and 4pm it's 1 adult to 13 children.

Thanks Pixie Dust....so childminder's do have smaller ratio's...got a parent coming round tomorrow who is looking for childcare and not sure to go with a nursery or childminder. At least now I can say childminder's have smaller ratio's.

Wow 1 adult to 13 children...sounds like a lot of children.
