I've just had a text from a parent confirming that they'd like to use me (only visited this afternoon!) and I was going to write 'that's lovely to hear, thank you for choosing me to look after X' and then go on to explain what they need to do next regarding deposit. DH thinks it sounds a bit.... Mushy??

Four years I've been doing this and I still need to check with you guys!!

Is it an appropriate response?

I always say/text

It was lovely to meet you and x today and I am sure x will fit in here with no problems.

I think it shows that I am happy they want to come to me but I'm not thanking them.

I don't like to sound to grateful :D

Tell your DH that I'm a bloke and I don't think it's mushy - I think it's just right.

OTOH you'd better not tell him that I always cry at the bit where Colin Firth proposes to the Portuguese waitress in Love Actually.
