According to an article in my local paper! I am £5 an hour which is £40 for an 8hour day - would have thought London would be more expensive!

Rather puzzled by this - tried googling childcare cost for London and findings with daycare trust are supporting the article you quote as they are saying £113 as average childcare costs which I find strange (I wonder if they are including part time workers in their figures as I cannot see where it mentions full time)- wonder if someone has got their figures wrong. Might be an idea to contact the Scottish Childminding Assoc to see if they are going to respond

When I was working in London I got £7.00 an hour but it could be the average as I knew some who got £3.50.

I'm in London and charge £6/h and it's cheap. Some in my area charge £7/£7.50

That does sound odd. I am in SW Herts, easy commuting distance from central London. I charge £50 for a 10 hour day and all the Day Nurseries around here charge more than that. A few miles away in Bucks and St Albans the fees go up to £6-7ph.

£38 per day sounds cheap to me.
