Wasn't really sure where to post this. Just wondering who has a Facebook page? I want one so parents and potential parents can see what sort of thing we're up to photos ect. I wasnt sure how to have it. I see some childminders have a 'friends' profile instead of an actual page. The problem with a page is anyone can look but I'd quite like to link from my online adverts to the page so people can see a little more about me.

What does everyone else do and do you add pictures of mindees.

Thanks again x

Yes, a lot of childminders have a 'like' page. Photos of children do not go on this page as it's public - I use my 'like' page for advertising purposes.

I have a separate page for childminding and I never put a photo of a child on it, info about my setting and generic photos...

I have a separate page for childminding and I do put pictures of the children on it. The parents have all give specific permission for the photos to be on there.

The parents love the page and I have also had business from it.

If you want to pm me I'll give you my page name if you want it.

Hi, I also have a like page. I don't put photo's of children on there, apart from when doing an activity, so maybe a hand, arm or top of their head, so not identifiable. I also put photo's on of new resources etc, I also sometimes comment about where we have been, what we have done etc. I have a separate permission for parents to sign specifically for this, (in addition to the standard photo permission).

I started a thread on here about starting a facebook page a while ago and a few people put links on to their page, there are some really good childminding facebook pages and I think that inspired me to start one myself.

That's what I was thinking asking for permission. Lynncjt if you wouldn't mind that would be great thank you. Will pm you now. X

I'm new to this Facebook Page thingy, but I've just started a Childminding one linked to my Facebook page, and I've put photos of my current mindees doing activities to promote my childminding (with Parents permission).
Since it went up a week ago I've had lots of my ex-mindees contact me by phone, email and text as well as "Likeing" the page, to say they remember some of the activities and places and especially my big garden, and how they loved coming to me. It's been great. I've just put the phone down from talking to one who's just got back from Uni for the holidays and saw the page and wanted to know if he can come to the Archery classes I run for my kids while he's back!

I have a separate profile for my childminding business. Even though I have parental permission for photos, I don't feel it's right to put pictures of other people's children onto something so public, once pictures are out there anyone can get hold of them and do what they wish with them. All children are unidentifiable on there in that their faces are never shown.

Good luck

I agree with the picture thing although if you have permission then I guess it's ok. I've now decided to set up a 'like' page and I will add photos without using faces. As I only have an after schooler at the mo will just be uploading stuff me and my two boys get up too. :-)
