Hi all. I'm considering buying some 'magic maize' for 4 year old DD and mindees. Is it any good? Do I need to buy the pictures with it? Thanks. x

Great stuff, really easy, can stick on eyes etc, make animals n people, no mess.

Thanks Chriss. If you don't know what I mean by the pictures then you have answered my question! Some packs have pictures, a bit like colouring in sheets for you to decorate with magic maize. Some packs don't have these and so I was wondering which to get. x

The main thing is not to over wet it or it just goes flat but the children will soon get the hang of it.

The pictures you buy show exactly where to put each piece of maize - you can just as easily print pictures off the internet and let the children fill in the outlines as they wish (more creative).

It's a great craft activity to have out when you've put all the paints/glitter etc away!! :D

My lot love it - you can find pictures online if you hunt! :D

Would it be suitable for a 2 year old to just stick randomly?

I bought the packs with pictures and photocopied them for repeated use. To be honest the kids like to make up their own pictures so they just have free rein to do what they like. 2 year olds can easily wet and stick them.

because they are basically big wotsits, its not the end of the world if the little ones chomp on them! They are just big corn puffs.

I wonder if you can do crafts with a big bag of wotsits?................. got me thinking now!

Where do you all get them from? I've seen them in ELC but does anywhere else sell them?

Yes, but a two year old is more likely to squash them! :)
