I have had a child since she was 2.5yrs old , shes now 4.5yrs old and should really have started school september, now I know they dont need to start untill their 5yrs old legally but shes so ready for it and really needs it, parents are moving home, they have been for as long as I can remember but every step of the way somthing goes wrong so I do feel sorry for them as just as they think their sorted somthing else happens, anyway she got a place in a local school so I was expecting her to go there for one term at least but shes still with me and agian today I thought I would be given notice so shes starts school January but no notice given and parent asking when I am back after christmas! they aremoving away from the area which is why mum didnt put her in school but surley half a term there would have been better than non at all

She may be ready for school but perhaps they are worried at how she will cope with change. It's not just schools that will be different, it will be her home too. You deliver EYFS which is what she would get at school. Was she at Pre-school? Will they still take her (If you are worried about her socialising)? My sons Pre-school will still take your child if you defer.

I can see it from both point of views and unless I knew the full situation I couldn't comment on which I felt was right ,
when does she turn 5 and what are the parents plans for when she does ?

If I thought my dd was only going to do a few weeks before having to move home and school think I would have done the same as your mindees parents.

I think it's really nice that they are considering you the security she needs.

Her parents obviously feel she is getting all she needs with you right now which is a great compliment to you. Makes a change to read about parents who are not hell bent on rushing their child into school at the first opportunity.
