Christmassy maths?

Hi there
Just wondering if any of you have any Christmassy creative ideas that I can link to maths?
I have a 4 year old who is learning to recognise numbers from 1 to 5. So I'm thinking maybe something like a Christmas train with the numbers on the coaches that we can stick in the right order. But I can't think of a simple way of doing it.
Any other ideas? Or improvements on mine?

I recently made number these cards for my mindee who was learning to recognise numbers

Could you do something similar, but put christmas pictures on them? I made a set with the numbers still attached, then alother set with the pictures & numbers separate. They worked really well and before his 3rd birthday he could recognise all his numbers from 0-10 :thumbsup:

i've got a ribbon hanging across the wall and currently the LOs are pegging printed baubles with numbers on, onto the ribbon. i might move to actual baubles next week!

Baubles with numbers on for a real or paper tree? Different shaped decorations? On the laptop there is a cute activity called 10 Little Snowmen. On Sparklebox there are lots of printables with numbers on them in Christmas themes. At Easter I made an activity where the children had to match the number of chicks/eggs/bunnies etc to the correct numeral (I just did 1-5). You could easily do this on clip art for Christmas. We also go on a Christmas Treasure/Scavenger Hunt. I give them an A4 piece of paper split into quarters. In each quarter I stick a picture of something Christmasy, such as a wreath, a Christmas tree, a snowman etc. We then go for a walk around the block and they put a little tick (or any mark) in the correct box when we have spotted soething. We then go home and count up how many trees etc we saw and talk about what we saw the most of etc. They love that one. I made little clip boards out of cereal boxes and a peg. You should check out your area first so that you know which christmas decorations are up and where!
