Croupe query ;(

Hi all

Just wondered if we should exclude children with croupe as its contagious?

I never knew it was contagious! My son had it on and off for 5yrs, he got it at 18mths and then had it every autumn/winter till he was 6!

Also, because the symptoms are generally at night I would only keep him off school/nursery because he was so tired. During the day he would be fine and no one knew anything was wrong with him!

i was told by the dr it isnt easy to catch - my ds had it and never passed it on to another child, so its upto you really, but if it is a mindee and they are very ill with it i'd advise them to stay at home for a day or two. If its really bad take the child to a & e at night to get the steroid shot.
