Afternoon all,

I've just had a call from OFSTED!!!! The lady said someone has made a complaint :crying: I am so upset. I have only started childminding in July and had my first OFSTED grading inspection 2 weeks ago and got a Good.

She said she is coming out to see me this afternoon :panic: I am so stressed I've never experienced anything like this before I am sitting here shaking and just what to cry.

Has anyone had any experiences like this before?? And what do I do??

Thanks in advance

Ang

Hi Ang.

Cannot offer any advise, but at least she has called first. So at least you can get the kids out of the locked cupboard under the stairs!!!!

I am sure it will all go well, and you will be fine.

Thinking of you

Poor you, it's disheartening isn't it.

Just make sure you show her evidence of your good work. Whatever the complaint is about make sure you have knowledge or even evidence that its untrue. Do you know what the complaint was?

If you know your doing a good job then don't worry
I'm sure some people have nothing better to do than put in a complaint that hopefully will be proved untrue.

I dread the day if it ever happens to me

I'm sure if they only did a full inspection 2 weeks ago and awarded you good then this meeting will be to explain what the complaint is all about - I'm sure it won't be anything that serious (someone being nasty or mis reading a situation) or otherwise they would have just turned up on your doorstep and not made appointment.

Hope all goes well - let us know later what happened and what is was about.

Oh I really feel for you. Ofsted are not as bad as they are made out to be (should add -in my experience) and hopefully you will be given all info about complaint made.
Only advice I can give you is hold your head up and take any support you need from your family and friends. That includes all your friends on this forum.Sending hugs and I hope it's quickly sorted for you.:)

Thank for all your kinds words.

When she was on the phone she never mentioned what the complaint was about, I think that's why I'm so worried its the not knowing!!!!

Well she's came and gone!! :clapping: and she's not taking the complaint any further :clapping:

Basically, someone called them and said I was in a abusive relationship with my husband (who is my assistant) and that I was in a woman's refuge :eeeek::eeeek:

Yes, this happen to me in the past (about 13 years ago). However, the person complaining said was 2009 and that it was my current partner. I have been married to my current partner for 11 years. She ask loads of question about my past and was there any abuse between me and my husband. (Which there not).

There was who did threaten me with Ofsted because off outstanding payment in October. However, I did call at the time and ask Ofsted to record in on my file.

I think this parent let the dust settle and then done this as even the lady said she thought it was some malicious. ( if that's spelt right lol)

So glad is over

Phew, thank goodness everything was ok. It can be so worrying that people can report childminders with lies just to get their own back/be spiteful - it's not fair is it. Hugs xx

Thanks everyone,

Yesterday, I was very low and deflated at the though of how someone can do such a thing, just to be spiteful.

But, I've had a good sleep and today is another day.

I love this job and I've worked hard to get this far and I'm not letting spiteful people upset that.

Onwards and upwards

I can't believe people can be so nasty! And it must be someone who knows a bit about your past to be able to say such things

I am so glad the inspector could see there was nothing to worry about and is taking it no further

It is hard to not feel disheartened, but onwards and upwards as you say, this complaint has got that nasty person no where!
