Need some advice.

When do I start my accounts? Parents came last night and signed the contract and did all the permission forms and stuff. They also paid a deposit to secure the place, which amounted to 2 weeks fees. I told them that this would make up the first 2 weeks fees but if they didn't take the place the deposit was non-refundable.

My question is when do I put this amount through the books? Do I do it now or do I put it as a full months fees when mindee starts on the 1st September?

At the moment I have no other mindees so am not taking in any other fees - only spending money on things I need.

you can start from now and put all equipment down as deduction

Yes, put it through for this month.

It doesn't make a huge difference tbh as it's an annual figure you'll be working out eventually, but best get it right from the beginning :D

Thank you.

I suppose at least if I put it through this month and all the expenses I won't forget about it come September - which I'm likely too! Especially if I've spent it!

Hey, thanks for this thread Meggiemoo.

I've had some parents pay me a deposit and I've completely forgotten to note it in my accounts book!

Whoops.
Better get off here and do some paperwork!
