Up until now I have had a cheap pay as you go phone, but when it died I wanted to get one with a nice camera as i take quite a few photos most days for daily diaries. I have now started a contract with free phone and wondered if I could claim some of the cost of this as expenses? I most probably would just have bought another cheap pay as you go had I not been childminding.

Sorry I don't know the answer - hope someone who does replies soon - I just do PAYGo and claim half of top up back each month.

If it's a phone you use specifically for your business then I think you can.
By that I mean it's just used for childminding. not sure if it was just your personal phone

Providing you deduct the cost of any personal use you can claim the whole of the rest.

Thank you for your replies. I do use it for personal use as well but not much. Not sure how to deduct my personal use from a monthly plan though?
