We made spider biscuits , just ready made choc butter icing on top of digestives with strawberry lace legs and cheerio eyes - improvised with what I had in the cupboard!

they look cool, I tried making some with the 5yrold and 8yrold last week, explained what to do, cut up laces so they both had equal amounts, 5yrold put smarties all on one cake then complained she didnt have enough and the 8yrold just made a huge mess with the laces and icing:( not sure why I bothered really

we made halloween cakes today - I bought black food colouring for the icing and when I brought it out for the children to decorate the cakes I told them I had "spooky icing" - the almost 3 yr old i look after started crying when he saw it saying he didn't like it spooky! I had to remove him from the table and calm him down explaining it was just black and i was being silly and he didn't have to put any black on etc. He soon cheered up with a ghost haribo that were meant to be on top of the black icing lol!
