I just ask because I charge weekly and have just had an enquiry from someone who is using a nursery and she says because i charge per week and they charge per month it makes it more expensive by a month per year? What do you think? The extra weeks over the year covers our holidays really doesn't it and u would feel like you were doing four weeks work a year for nothing wouldn't you?!!!

I charge by both.... Depending on parental preference. Weekly amount is just that. Monthly amount isvthe weekly amount x 52 weeks then divided by 12.

So for example £100 per week.

Would be monthly - £100 x 52 weeks = £5200 divided by 12 months = £433 per calender month

I invoice parents at the end of month for the month ahead. So I just count how many days ill be having their child in the month and x that by the fee. If that makes sense xx

I can't see how the charges would be different?
If I charged a month then it would be a calendar month. Not sure what she is getting at that it would make it more expensive by 4 weeks??

Thank you that helped me get it straight in my head .. It actually works out cheaper to use me when you work the nursery fees by 12 and my weekly fee by 52.. So I have told her so!!

I couldn't get my head round that either - I charge weekly but am paid monthly in advance, some months have 4 weeks in them and some have 5. Parent sounds like hard work to me :panic:

I do whatever is easiest for the parents! Some pay weekly, some pay monthly-I just count up the amount of days during that month that the child is in my care, then invoice them for that.Easy!

I dont understand that, sorry

One family pay weekly in arrears, other pays monthly in arrears, both pay for contracted days/hours

All my parents pay in arrears-so they pay at the end of the month for the care they have received during that month.
I have 2 full time under 5's who I charge a day rate for. So,at the end of the month I add up the amount of days they've been with me then multiply them by the day rate. The weekly payers pay for the care theyve had during that week.

Sounds to me like mum has forgotten about there being some months with 5 weeks in it

If she's worked out her weekly fee x 4 weeks to equal one month, that'll be why she feels you're more expensive.

For parents that want to pay the same fee per month, I multiply their weekly fee by 48 weeks ( I don't charge for my holidays) then divide it by 12 calender months
