A childminder friend has been told that housing benefit is counted as income? does anyone know if this is the case?? Had a look on the HMRC website but can oly find info relating to tax credits? thanks.

I have never put it down as income and have been self employed from sept 2007... never heard of it being income before and tbh cant see how it is but to be sure ring self assessment help line

No it isn't counted as income for tax purposes.

One of her parents also a friend of hers said the same thing! I think it counts if you claim tax credits, she was panicking! thanks
