Well done - I'm sure kids are going to be really creative in your new area - hope they have as much imagination as you.

May be a silly question but where did you get your tree trunk seats from - I went for a walk in local woods at weekend and saw lots of whole cut down logs and said to my husband could I get one in the car, and he said that if I carried it, he would put it in car! In the end I was lucky enough to find one piece of log cut into an ideal stepping stone for my garden, but I want MORE!

I have logs  loads as we have a wood on our farm but DH won't let me have them on the grass in the garden as he wouldn't be able to get the ride on mower round them:angry: If only I could move them when he is working  no chance:rolleyes:

Might have to extend the patio a bit and have them there, love the idea

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments.

Ok so here goes....I live in a rural area and I was driving down the road when I spotted a garden full of huge logs. I saw the neighbour outside and asked if she knew if they were for sale or not. Turned out a friend of mine lived there and I had no idea!! Anyway, my friends hubby asked what sizes I wanted and then told me he'd sort it out. The following weekend he arrived at mine with a boot full of tree trunks. They aren't secured in as they are so heavy there's no way I could lift them let alone a child. They smaller ones are slightly dug into the ground but thats it. The once upon a time wording is double laminated. The flowers, butterflies and windmills are from the 99p shop. My favourite bits are the little bird houses which I also got for 99p, Ive put little fairies in them and the lo love going on a fairy hunt! I even left a trail of fairy dust(fine glitter) which they followed, magical!

There are some questions for the older ones which say, can you make up your own story? Where would your characters live? etc...

The floor is just bark chippings laid on top of some membrane to stop weeds.

I did it all on my own when hubby was working lol, he couldnt believe it when he came home!!!:laughing:

I think all in all it cost about £80.

Hope that answers all the questions, i shall look forward to seeing your pics when you've created your own lol.:clapping:

Thanks so much. I havent treated them with anything as yet but will be before winter sets in.

One thing I ought to mention which I hadnt thought about....Ive got to get all the stuff off the fence so dh can stain the fanels, then put it up again!!!
 oops!

I am really chuffed with everyones comments, thanks guys!

It's just beautiful. What lucky children! I'm sensing a theme here - OH's and their unappreciation of tree stumps!

silvermist
13-09-2012, 07:44 PM
Its funny because when I was trying to explain it to dh he was like "I dont get it, I cant imagine it"
I have to say though, he really likes it. Thing is its not permanent, when I decide to finish minding I can just take away all the wording etc and plant shrubs in there.:)

This looks lovely, very inviting, I bet your children love it. :)

I've just had a barked area put down in my garden and have a few small logs and stones that the children carry around there but I really like the idea of the laminated words and the flowers stuck to the fences.

I have three huge tree logs that were given to me a few years ago, I just need someone to log them up for me to make seats. I am on a site called freecycle (sometimes they have re-branded themselves to freegle depending upon where you live), you could always put a post out on there asking for a tree trunk. Likewise I got my bark from a local tree surgeon. I just called him up and asked and the next time he did a job near my house he brought me the remains.

I'm always amazed at what others throw away.

A.
