Tax and NI? when??

I registered self employed 23rd April 2012. I was just wondering when I would hear about paying NI and also when i would do my first tax return. The only thing i have recieved is my gateway password .

Any info woudl be appreciated :)

I registered in July 2012 and registered with the HMRC self employed on their website - I filled out their questionaire and opted to pay National Insurance monthly via direct debit and tax PAYE - I still have not heard anymore yet and I also sent a standing form off to them to start deductiing my NI immediatley, nothing has left my bank yet.

Hope I get some sense soon!! :)

Thanks think I will return for monthly direct debit, as I prefer this too, the control freak in md feels in limbo
